OLIVER LANZ - ARTIST INFO

Oliver Lanz (1971, Wuppertal/Germany), explores the basic questions of painting, whereby in his pictures he confronts classical painting techniques with forms produced via the digital media. Characteristic for his canvases, painted while on the floor, are their thin layers of delicate and overlapping acrylic and oil glazes, whose intensity and luminescence recall impressionistic color modulations. His sensitive handling of color – learned from his teachers Gotthard Graubner and Bernd Koberling – is what leads to dynamically expressive or to quiet color regions.
